Whisky Cocktails

Humphrey Bogarts famous last words were ‟I should never have switched from Scotch to Martinis", so we've compiled a list of the top 5 whisky cocktails in his honour to avoid the same regret.

1. Grapefruit Whisky Sour
They say the trick to getting a whisky sour just right is balancing the sweet and sour, and this little twist on your standard whisky sour does just that. Prepare for a wonderfully lip-puckering result!

3 parts Whisky
Grapefruit juice
Lemon wedges
Ice

2. Rob Roy
Created at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan to celebrate the 1894 premiere of the operetta Rob Roy, it's basically a Manhattan but made with scotch. They're typically garnished with a maraschino cherry or a lemon twist, so it could be classed as one of your five a day... right?

2 parts Scotch Whisky
1 part Martini Rossi
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 whole Lemon, zested
1 whole Cherry
Ice

3. Whisky Rose
One for budding mixologists, we're going to be majorly disappointed if we can't sip on a Whisky Rose at every social gathering from now on.

1.5 oz Whisky
1/2 oz Rosemary Syrup
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
Fizzy Apple Juice (Appletiser)
Rosemary/Apple to garnish
1.5 cup Sugar

Find the full recipe here.

4. Old Fashioned
This classic whisky cocktail speaks for itself. If it's good enough for Don Draper, it's good enough for us.

1 Sugar Cube
3 Angostura Bitters
1L Club Soda
2 oz. Whisky

Find the full recipe here.

5. Hot Toddy
Tis the season to be...sneezing? As winter approaches, sadly colds and flus are everywhere. Good news for us, you can drink whisky and it actually makes you feel better the next day. Just ask your Gran.

1.5 parts Whisky
1/3 part Honey
3 parts hot water
3 dried Cloves
Lemon juice, freshly squeezed
Cinnamon sticks
